From 30 June to 4 July, ADPP Guinea-Bissau carried out an impact assessment and survey as part of the project "Raising People's Awareness in the Regions of Cacheu and Oio", funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The project aims to promote environmental health within communities by strengthening awareness of good hygiene and sanitation practices, responsible waste management, and environmental protection.
The assessment was conducted in schools across the regions of Cacheu and Oio, specifically in Bachel, Pindigulo and Antotinha in the Cacheu region, and in Bissorã, Dugal and Gã Mamudu in the Oio region. The activity involved students, teachers, school management and local communities.
The process made it possible to gather information on the results achieved, understand the changes brought about by the project, and hear directly from those involved in its implementation. Impact assessment is an essential tool for measuring progress, identifying lessons learned, and strengthening future interventions within communities.

During the school visits, it was possible to observe the vital role of environmental education in promoting new knowledge and behaviours. Through participatory activities, students have developed a greater awareness of the importance of protecting the environment, reusing materials, reducing waste, and adopting practices that contribute to healthier communities.
The initiatives implemented demonstrate that environmental transformation begins with people's participation and the creation of spaces where children, teachers and communities can learn, share knowledge and develop sustainable solutions together.
Promoting environmental health makes an important contribution to improving people's quality of life and strengthening communities that are better prepared to address environmental challenges.
ADPP Guinea-Bissau will continue working in partnership with schools, communities and local institutions to promote education, environmental awareness and sustainable development.
