ADPP Guinea-Bissau is participating in AIDS 2026 – the 26th International AIDS Conference, one of the world's leading global events dedicated to the response to HIV, tuberculosis and other major public health challenges.
ADPP Guinea-Bissau is represented by Hati Mapingu, Coordinator of the Safe Space – Community Care Centres Project, an initiative funded by Expertise France | L’Initiative – Expertise France and implemented by ADPP Guinea-Bissau.
Participation in this international conference provides an opportunity to share ADPP Guinea-Bissau’s experience in implementing community-based health responses, explore innovative approaches, exchange knowledge, and strengthen collaboration with organisations, health professionals and development partners from around the world.
The Safe Space Project contributes to strengthening the community response to HIV in Guinea-Bissau through an integrated approach that promotes combination prevention, early diagnosis, improved access to healthcare services, and the active engagement of communities.
Implemented in the regions of Oio, Bafatá, Gabú, Tombali, Farim, and the Autonomous Sector of Bissau (SAB), the project works to strengthen the capacity of community-based organisations and promote a more inclusive, effective and people-centred response.
Through its participation in AIDS 2026, ADPP Guinea-Bissau is sharing the lessons learned and practical experience gained through its fieldwork, reinforcing the importance of cooperation, knowledge sharing and community participation in building more sustainable health responses.
With the support of Expertise France | L’Initiative – Expertise France, ADPP Guinea-Bissau continues to contribute to an HIV response based on community outreach, inclusion and respect for the rights of all communities.
