25 September 2025, the first meeting of the Scientific Committee of the SafeSpace project was held at the Malaika Hotel in Bissau.
The SafeSpace project, funded by Expertise France, marks a decisive step in strengthening the community-based public health response in Guinea-Bissau.
Through the creation of community hubs, the initiative promotes:
Combined prevention
Early diagnosis
Timely access to treatment
The focus is on HIV, viral hepatitis, STIs, tuberculosis, and malaria, with an inclusive, effective, and community-centred approach.
To ensure quality and scientific rigour, the project relies on a Scientific Committee made up of national and international experts in public health, epidemiology, research, gender equity, and sexual and reproductive health – as well as institutional representatives and strategic partners.
Together, we are building a stronger, more participatory, and transformative public health response for all.
