On 9th, 10th and 13th April, ADPP Guinea-Bissau conducted a training session under the Safe Space project, funded by Expertise France, focusing on Human Rights, Gender-Based Violence, discrimination and stigma.

The training took place over three days and included up to 25 participants, adopting a participatory, inclusive and participant-centred approach. During the sessions, key topics were covered, including the concepts and causes of Gender-Based Violence, its physical, emotional and social impacts, as well as the stigmas and barriers that hinder access to services and rights.

Mechanisms for prevention and response were also explored, alongside stigma-free communication strategies and practices that promote inclusion and equality. Dynamic methodologies were used, such as case studies, guided discussions, group work and practical exercises, all adapted to the context of Guinea-Bissau.

The training helped to strengthen participants’ knowledge and skills, encouraging critical reflection on existing challenges and promoting the adoption of more inclusive, rights-based approaches.

However, it was also identified that the time available for the training was insufficient for an in-depth exploration of all the planned content, which limited the full understanding of some topics. In this regard, the importance of extending the duration of future training sessions is highlighted, in order to ensure higher quality learning and a more meaningful impact.
