The Teacher Training College DNS-Bachil marks another year of existence, reaffirming its role as a reference institution in the training of primary school teachers in Guinea-Bissau.
Created in 2011 as a pilot project, the Teacher Training College DNS-Bachil resulted from a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2008 between ADPP Guinea-Bissau and the Ministry of Education of Guinea-Bissau. The project emerged to respond to a structural need within the national education system: the training of teachers with a modern, innovative profile and broad pedagogical and social competences.
The motto “Another kind of school, another kind of teacher” reflects the institution’s philosophy, which promotes an educational model that differs from traditional teaching, centred on the learner, active participation, and the holistic development of future educators.
The college is located in the community of Bachil, in the Cacheu region, on the site of a former agricultural centre rehabilitated with the support of the HUMANA People to People Federation. Its activities began in February 2012, with 40 students enrolled in a three-year residential training programme.
Between 2012 and 2025, the Teacher Training College DNS-Bachil trained 319 teachers, the majority of whom are now integrated into the public education system, serving under the Ministry of Education.
As it celebrates another year of existence, the Teacher Training College DNS-Bachil reaffirms its commitment to the quality of education and to training educators capable of transforming communities and building a more just and sustainable future.
