Agricultural and Rural Value Chains and Entrepreneurship Support Project (PACVEAR)

Strengthening Rural Entrepreneurship and Creating Economic Opportunities

The Agricultural Value Chains and Rural Entrepreneurship Support Project (PACVEAR) promotes rural entrepreneurship and the development of small agriculture-related businesses through training, capacity building, and ongoing support for young people, farmers, and entrepreneurs.

The project builds on ADPP Guinea-Bissau's experience in entrepreneurship development, which began in 2018, supporting the establishment and growth of economic initiatives in the regions of Oio, Bafatá and Gabú.

Project Information

Duration: 2021 – December 2026
Implementation Area: Oio, Bafatá and Gabú Regions
Target Groups: Young people, farmers and small entrepreneurs
Implemented by: ADPP Guinea-Bissau
Partner: African Development Bank

Main Activities

The project is implemented by a team comprising one Project Coordinator, three Project Leaders—one in each intervention region—and two Entrepreneurship Trainers from the ADPP Vocational School Bissorã.

Through the ADPP Vocational School Bissorã, 100 students have been trained in entrepreneurship, and 33 entrepreneurship groups have received support to establish and develop their business initiatives.

The Project Leaders have also trained 300 young people across the regions of Oio, Bafatá and Gabú, strengthening their skills in business management, business development and entrepreneurship.

The project has supported seven Farmers' Club Committees with training in business management, marketing and agricultural product processing.

Training sessions on nutrition, food hygiene and appropriate feeding practices for children aged 6 to 23 months have also been delivered to committees of young farmers.

In addition, eight awareness-raising sessions were organised in six schools on food hygiene, nutrition and infant feeding, accompanied by the provision of products and equipment.
